So almost a year ago, I sat down to my desk and sculpted my stress away. I was spending all my time working in hard, slow wax for the Monkeynaut prototype. I needed a break to losen myself back up. This silly little catfish was the result!

 

Well, he was molded and casted a few times but eventually ended up on the back burner when life got in the way. I’m happy to say I finally got to revisit this little cutie. I’ve had some real fun bringing a small army of them to life!

 

 NOW, you can finally get your hands on one! Head on over to my store and pick out a cute desk mate for yourself!

 

The Fatty Cats are the first of quite a few personal projects I’ve had in the works. Time to give these neglected resin ramblings some love and attention! Stay tuned for more resin creations!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Do you guys remember my little vinyl kaiju toy?! Well, Dski_One has put his painting flair on these Glow-in-dark Monkeynauts! You can get them January 18th noon PST from the wonderful people at http://www.lulubelltoys.com/ 

 

They come blind bagged, with 2 possible colorways. It’s a 7″ tall figure with articulated in the arms, feet & waist. These are going to retail for $75, and they come with a custom header card!

 

 

 

Monkeynaut, my first vinyl toy with my buddy Eddie, made his debut at Designer Con 2012 back in November. Keep an eye out for a second wave of Monkeynauts after the new year. We will have some fun colored blanks so keep an eye out for them! Our first wave of blanks found new homes and now we are seeing some awesome customs pop up!

 

*Also there are plans in the works for a custom show around spring of 2013. I’ll be posting more details as we get closer to the date.*

Well, I finally get to share this project with you!

 

This critter was created as a gift to my awesome sister http://carakhan.com/ . I finally was able to visit and give it to her and since it was a surprise I had to keep it on lockdown.

 

This is my second venture into soft body sculptures/dolls and my first time working with fur fabric. The head, paws, and feet are all one of a kind (no molds used or created) sculpted in Super Sculpey regular and firm (mixed 50/50). After baking they were painted both by airbrush and paintbrush. The tail is posable. There is no armature inside, just polyfill stuffing and pellets for weight.

 

This critter was not meant to be a 100% anatomical representation of a chinchilla but more of a fun, overly fluffed, whimsical version. Hope you guys like him!

 

Our first vinyl toy is coming along nicely! A week ago my business partner Eddie Dobson @Eduardo_is_me flew down to San Diego to get his hands on the first pull of Mr. Monkeynaut. He appears to need minimal cleanup overall and is being prepped for the final molds. I can’t wait to have one in my hands! The first run will be available at 2012 Designer Con!! Eddie and I will be there with t-shirts, stickers, buttons and the very first edition of our ‘crazy ape astronaut’ toy! If you aren’t able to make it to the con, he should be available very soon afterwards in my online store. Keep your eyes peeled for all updates!

Mr. Fat Feesh is finally getting a paint job! Check out these progress pics.

I’ll be picking up a smaller needle for my airbrush this week so that I can get a bit more detailed. He needs some slight highlights around the face and maybe a pearlescent hint here and there. Fun fun fun!

So things are falling into place and moving forward!

Since the last post i’ve collected all the parts and assembled my pressure pot, put final touches on my sculpt, cast two beautiful two part molds, and begun assembling a resin cast army of Fluff Fins!
