Chocobo Commission *WARK!*

I learned a lot working on this commission piece! I now know that birds are fun to sculpt and feathers are NOT. At least I can now probably sculpt a pile of feathers with my eyes closed!

This Chocobo looks great! I was just curious as to what type of clay you use? I;ve been wanting to get into sculpting and Im not sure what the easiest clay is to manage. Im not a fan of the “sculpy” clay brand, any suggestions? Thanks!

It’s Super Sculpey. I used Sculpey Firm for the beak though. I would definitely recommend Sculpey to anyone looking to get into sculpting. See my progress photos at the bottom of the post, that the ideal way to use it. Make sure to create an armature and then fill out the bulky areas with tin foil. Sculpey has a tendency to crack when baked if it’s too thick. You want to keep it under 3/4 of an inch ideally. Hope this helps! Email me anytime if you have any other questions. Always happy to help :)
