So almost a year ago, I sat down to my desk and sculpted my stress away. I was spending all my time working in hard, slow wax for the Monkeynaut prototype. I needed a break to losen myself back up. This silly little catfish was the result!
Well, he was molded and casted a few times but eventually ended up on the back burner when life got in the way. I’m happy to say I finally got to revisit this little cutie. I’ve had some real fun bringing a small army of them to life!
NOW, you can finally get your hands on one! Head on over to my store and pick out a cute desk mate for yourself!
The Fatty Cats are the first of quite a few personal projects I’ve had in the works. Time to give these neglected resin ramblings some love and attention! Stay tuned for more resin creations!

A second Chocobo commission for a wonderful client. He had requested a mother chocobo with it’s baby and their pet cat. It is a gift for his expecting wife who adores these silly feathered characters.
I really enjoyed working on this. It was definitely a learning experience once again. This time I chose to work with Magic Sculpt. It’s actually the first time i’ve tried this stuff out. Over all, im a big fan. Sets up as hard as a rock, sandable, and has pretty good amount of work time. Still though, it has its drawbacks that I had to learn to work around but I look forward to using Magic Sculpt again soon!
Still learning every time I sit down and paint as well. Color matching, adding details, dealing with texture. All fun but I still prefer to sculpt all day instead

Hey guys!! Remember those Colony charms I did for Chikara?
Well, I may have made a deal with the devil…well more like goblin prince. I’ve agreed to create charms for Kobald in exchange for him sparing my life AND free vacations to Bled Island!
You can buy them now at http://www.thebatiri.com/merchandise.html !!

Finally set aside time to conquer the camo lovin’ Militant Mat Mite! I was dreading this one a bit because how often do you paint tiny camo? Turned out to be pretty easy once I had gotten into the flow of it. I also couldn’t decide which detail color to go with..Yellow, red, or the current bright green? I obviously opted for yellow, to match the other two. I might do another version for fun. *Shrug* We’ll see.

We all knew this was coming! I made the first pair of Green Ant charms. Still haven’t decided if im happy with this shade of green…testing, testing. Also you’ll see the black detail that was meant to also be on the Fire Ant version. It will be! I’m just silly
Keep your eye out for the Militant Mat Mite in the next few days!

Though I could not be at King Of Trios last weekend, I was able to spend that time working on these!
This is a personal project that has been sitting in my mind for some time now. I finally set aside other work to tackle the first version. I’ve wanted a way to show my support/pride/fandom other than the usual t-shirt. Especially as a female, we have accessories that we have the option to wear out of the house each day. So why not use my skills to add extra flare to my wardrobe?! So far i’ve only painted and assembled earrings but I plan to make hair clips, buttons, magnets even!
I started with The Colony..because I get three mask variations for one sculpt! I plan on doing a pair for each Ant and eventually im sure ill create a version for their newer masks.
When I can set aside the time I will be sculpting some more of my favorite luchador’s masks! Perhaps an Ultramantis is in the future?
I created the original in a very hard grade wax in order to get sharp detail. The wax sculpt is then casted in 2 part liquid rubber. Once the mold sets the orignal is removed and I can cast as many duplicates as I want in resin! These are painted and assembled by hand. Fun fun fun! *Note: Im silly and forgot to paint the extra black detail at the bottom of the mask. Whoops!*
If you aren’t familiar with Chikara or it’s amazing talent, check out their website http://chikarapro.com/ and their youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/CHIKARAoffice . It’s the best family friendly fun out there!

Well, I finally get to share this project with you!
This critter was created as a gift to my awesome sister http://carakhan.com/ . I finally was able to visit and give it to her and since it was a surprise I had to keep it on lockdown.
This is my second venture into soft body sculptures/dolls and my first time working with fur fabric. The head, paws, and feet are all one of a kind (no molds used or created) sculpted in Super Sculpey regular and firm (mixed 50/50). After baking they were painted both by airbrush and paintbrush. The tail is posable. There is no armature inside, just polyfill stuffing and pellets for weight.
This critter was not meant to be a 100% anatomical representation of a chinchilla but more of a fun, overly fluffed, whimsical version. Hope you guys like him!

So i’ve been interested in trying my hand at OOAK (One of a kind) soft body dolls/soft body sculptures. There are some really amazing artists out there who excel at making them and have inspired me to make my own. Needless to say, it was a daunting task since there are no tutorials and i’ve never sewn in my life.
Now I can say that i’ve figured out my own way of doing things..trial and error. I made a bunch of mistakes and discovered quicker ways of doing things. My mom helped me out a lot, teaching me how to hand sew and use a sewing machine. It was a journey… but a fun one to say the least!
His face and fins are sculpted in Super Sculpey. There is a single wire armature inside from head to tail. His fins can flop and move freely. He is stuffed with soft polyfill and pellets for added weight. His belly is covered in beige velour fabric.
I will definitely be making more. Different species..styles..furs..fabrics!
If you are interested in purchasing him please send me an email through the Contact page

So things are falling into place and moving forward!
Since the last post i’ve collected all the parts and assembled my pressure pot, put final touches on my sculpt, cast two beautiful two part molds, and begun assembling a resin cast army of Fluff Fins!
Here are some quick pics of my first pull, before cleanup and sanding.

Today I finally, after much research, purchased my airbrush and first round of paints. So stay tuned for more pictures!
